Lauren Goldman AIA, Founder, Architecture + Design

As Founder of LORO Architecture + Interiors, Lauren Goldman AIA,  has built her practice around designing intentional spaces that fuse function with beauty. A native Californian who was raised in Palo Alto and now lives in Mill Valley, Lauren offers a unique design perspective that reflects the relaxed, effortless elegance of Northern California. Lauren is based in the Bay Area and leads projects that span from the Peninsula to San Francisco, throughout Marin and the Wine Country.  The firm’s name, LORO, is a combination of Lauren’s surname and the Italian word for gold - a precious metal synonymous with prosperity.

Lauren developed an early interest in architecture and design during childhood.  This passion led her to study art, architecture and design at the University of Michigan, Harvard and UC Berkeley.  She began her career in New York City before returning to the Bay Area and joined Fergus Garber Architects to focus her love for residential design.  This notion fueled Lauren’s desire to form LORO in 2012.  Lauren continues to be inspired by designing homes which seamlessly complement the busy lifestyle of the modern family.

Lauren’s work has earned praise from notable publications including CA Home + Design, Dwell and Modern Sanctuary. Lauren spends her free time with her husband and three children and also enjoys yoga, running, swimming and skiing.

Nicole Johnson, Director of Interior Design

Nicole Johnson, Director of Interior Design, started her interior design career in Santa Monica Canyon while apprenticing for renowned interior designer, Jeffrey Alan Marks (JAM). It was there that she discovered her natural born gift for design and her love of bringing nature, high end design, simplicity and elegance, and California modern into her work. While living in LA, she worked with coveted design retailer, Orange Furniture. Through this endeavor, she became an expert in vintage furniture from the 1940-70’s, and continues to cultivate close relationships with important vendors and trades across the globe.

A lover of mixing elements and highlighting the architectural components of a space, she immediately fit in at LORO and quickly worked her way up to Director of Interior Design. A firm believer that your personality must come out in the way you live and design your home, Nicole values the collaboration between the client, architect and designer.

Inspired by her childhood worldly travels and time spent in Malibu, Nicole’s ultimate inspiration is nature, the ocean and the forces behind it. Nicole lives in Mill Valley with her two sons Mac and Nico + her dog daughter Hazel.
